Cybercrime is a significant threat to global supply chains.  Organized criminals are increasingly attacking shippers and logistics companies to mis-direct international payments, spy on transport activity targeting physical cargo theft opportunities, and of course there is exposure to acts of terrorism which thankfully have not manifested. Unfortunately, the air cargo segment of the logistics industry is chronically behind the technology curve (and by extension, the security curve) compared to the mainstream consumer, e-tail, B2C sectors.

Simplified Processes and Trade Facilitation: The Vision of Streamlined International Trade under the New Automated Commercial Environment

By the end of Q2 2016, CBP will have completed the majority of the trade-facing transition from the legacy ACS system to ACE, and the unification of the import/export cargo regulatory regime of 47 separate agencies into a One U.S. Government single window.  The panel will discuss the opportunities for trade facilitation provided by powerful new ACE automation, ongoing trade simplification initiatives, as well as the main ACE implementation milestones and transition challenges for both trade and the government. Topics include: What efficiencies in air cargo movement have and will be gained from ACE? How does ACE empower account-based management, and what impact does this have on air cargo participants and the air cargo supply chain? How will automation accommodate the continuing growth and penetration of e-commerce? Will ACE in fact make multi-modal transport seamless? Have we finally reached the point where companies must “automate or perish”?
